Privacy policy

This policy explains what information The Price Audit ("we") collects when you visit The Price Audit, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We keep this page short on purpose: the site is a publication, not a platform.

What we collect

• Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. With your consent this includes approximate location (derived from IP), device and browser type, and pages viewed. We do not use it to identify individuals.
• Server logs. Our host (Cloudflare) records standard request data such as IP address, user agent and timestamps for security and abuse prevention.
• Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep the message so we can reply and, where relevant, correct an article.

We do not run accounts, newsletters or comment systems, so we do not collect names, passwords or payment details.

Cookies and consent

Analytics cookies are only set after you accept them. Until then, Google Analytics runs in consent mode with storage denied, which means no cookies are written for measurement. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, and you can block cookies entirely in your browser settings — the site works without them.

Affiliate links

Some links point to retailers, including Amazon. Those links carry an identifier that tells the retailer we referred you, and the retailer may set its own cookies once you arrive. We do not receive your name, address or payment information. What the retailer does with your data is governed by its own privacy policy. Our affiliate disclosure explains how this affects our editorial decisions — in short, it does not.

Third parties we rely on

• Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery.
• Google Analytics — aggregated traffic measurement.
• Retailers (for example Amazon) — only when you click an outbound product link.

Site search runs in your browser after you click the search box; queries are not sent to us.

How long we keep data

Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Server logs are kept by our host for a short period for security purposes. Emails are kept for as long as needed to resolve the matter you raised.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold, to object to processing, or to withdraw consent. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
